Chapter 1: Christianity's Solid Foundation - Third: The Moral Proof

Article Index

No one can invent the moral code written in the Bible. It is beyond the human ability to be conformed with that code apart from the grace of God.

Who can practically apply the command of God:

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might (Deuteronomy 6:4,5).

Who can love God with all his or her heart, his or her soul, his or her might?

Who can apply God’s command:

If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him thou shalt surely help with him (Exodus 23:4,5).

Who can practically apply the words of Jesus Christ when He said,

You have heard that it was said "Do not commit adultery." But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27,28)

Another command given by Jesus is this:

Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:44 - NKJ).

Concerning marriage, we read what Jesus said:

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?" And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?’ So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate" (Matthew 19:3-6).
Again we read:
Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband (I Corinthians 7:2 - NKJ).

The Bible principle concerning marriage is one woman for one man. From the beginning God created one woman "Eve" for the man Adam. Polygamy is not God’s command. God set the standard of how the husband should deal with his wife and how the wife should deal with her husband.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it (Ephesians 5:25 - NKJ)

Likewise you husbands, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered (I Peter 3:7 - NKJ)

Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter toward them (Colossians 3:19 - NKJ).

... and let the wife see that she respects her husband (Ephesians 5:33 - NKJ).

According to God’s commands, there is no wife beating.

Now read the following words which describe true love. You will come to the conclusion that these beautiful words could only come from God, whose name is "LOVE."

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love (I Corinthians 13:1-13 - NKJ)

This high moral code is evidence that these words came from the true God and not an invention of man because man cannot invent a code beyond his ability.

I advise you to read the Bible for yourself and discover the high ethical commands given by God to control human behavior; you will be absolutely convinced that the Bible is the true Word of God.

Sunshine, if no one can see those old texts, how can you know that there is any mention about Muhammad??

So it's a leap from Jews to Arabian? If Mohammed was the last prophet, who was the first, the second etc? And from what nations are they?

This is simply not true. The oldest manuscripts are on display and match up perfectly word-for-word with what we read in the Bible today. :-)

No. The past books have been tampered with as people have changed them. The Islamic belief is that the Quran is the last book, and protected. There are plenty of versions of the Christian texts, the oldest no one is allowed to see because it mentions Prophet Muhammad to be the next and last prophet, and the Jewish also know the fact. Have a nice day.
