Chapter 6: Evidences That Demand A Verdict - Why is Israel preferred above all creatures

Article Index

9. Why is Israel preferred above all creatures.

God said concerning Israel:

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish (Isaiah 41:8-11)

The Quran mentions that Allah favored Israel and preferred them to all creatures and gave them things which He did not give to any other of His creatures:

O children of Israel! Remember My favour wherewith I favoured you and how I preferred you to [all] creatures

(Surat Al-Baqarah 2:47 - M. Pickthall Translation)

O children of Israel! Remember my favour wherewith I favoured you and how I preferred you to [all] creatures (Surat Al-Baqarah 2:122)

And verily We gave the children of Israel the Scripture and the command and the prophethood, and provided them with good things and favoured them above [all] peoples (Surat Al-Jathiyah 45:16)

And [remember] when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Remember Allah’s favour unto you, how He placed among you prophets, and He made you kings, and gave you that [which] He gave not to any [other] of [His] creatures (Surat Al-Maidah 5:20).

Why did God favor the children of Israel above all people?

Why did He give them the Scripture and the prophethood?

The answers are clear in the Bible:

First, because God committed His Word to them.

What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles [the word] of God (Romans 3:1,2 - NKJ).

Second, and more importantly, because Jesus Christ had to be from them.

The apostle Peter says:

For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God (Romans 9:3-5 - NKJ).

God preferred Israel above all creatures, because His Son, Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of mankind, had to be from them,

for salvation is of the Jews (John 4:22).

Muslims insult Jesus all the time by saying he was just a prophet and that he is not God. Then Muslims insult Christians by saying that the Gospels have been changed. Now that shows that Muslims do not believe that our God is Almighty. As our Almighty God will with ease ensure that no simple human can change his word. So Muslims are blasphemers as well. I wonder how they explain that on Judgement day.

"And We have sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and rectifying it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you..."
[al-Qur'aan, Surat al-Maa'idah, 5:48]

May Allah guide those of you who are sincere to the truth.

For your own sake please read SEEKING ALLAH FOUND JESUS. The new Testament was written by Peter, Paul, John, James, followers of Jesus says this research... written 30 years after Jesus Crucifiction. Q'ran was written 200 years after Mohammed's death and 800 years after Jesus's crucifiction. May God turn you to him and His truth. Your religion is false. Mohammed was a general social and military reformer who heard of the religion of the Jews and Christians. When Islam is defeated and Jesus rdturns in Glory, I hope to see you among those greeting Him. Please turn to the one and true God and turn away from Satan. God truly loves you and please for God research and accept Jesus as the true Messiah Ashua that He is. Amen.

Sara,
We do not believe that God had a son, either! Jesus is called the "Son of God" because it shows exactly what and who He is like - God Himself. Arabs are called "Sons of the Desert" but we all know the desert did not get married to a woman and birth a race of people. Just as "son of the desert" identifies what a desert-dweller looks like, acts like, etc... so "Son of God" identifies Jesus Christ as being the very image and picture of God. Read the words of Jesus in the Injeel or New Testament of the Bible and you will see that Jesus says He and the Father (God) are ONE - He is saying that He is, in fact, God! You can find this in John chapter 14. As a last note, we do not worship idols and we believe that salvation is for every person on the whole earth!

haha! What a highly un-nuanced article. I was reading everything nicely, until the beating of the wives made me laugh out loud. I beg to differ with you sir. Islam did bring something new to the table. The pristine, pure monotheism, open to all of humanity, that cannot be found in other faiths today (we do not believe God had a son, or is an idol or that religion is exclusive to a chosen few).

And you did in fact misquote the Quran, in your interpretation. But let me ask you this - why would Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was also an illiterate man, admonish himself in his own book? No! He did not! This verse has an "if" clause, and is hypothetical. Read the context.

And yes, I do encourage your readers to read about Islam and make their own judgments. As for me, I cannot read more about your faith, because of the way you describe mine. I would never do that to yours. And may God guide us all to knowledge.
