Reading the Quran

Q8. Host: Are the Muslims encouraged to read the Quran? (1:43)

Answer

Dr. Labib: I want to tell you that most of the Muslims do not read the Quran for one simple reason, and that is because the Quran is very difficult to understand. As I said previously, it's not self-interpreted. Also, it is written in the language of Kouriash, which was the language of the Arabs in Arabia during this time. And many words are very hard to understand unless you go to the dictionaries. For myself, when I write my books, I go to the Islamic dictionaries to get the meanings of the words. So the average Muslims do not understand the Quran.

Finally, when you read the Quran you don't have the sense of peace, because as I said, God is not the Father, God is not love. In fact, in the Quran, again, and again, and again, the Quran threatens the Muslims, "If you don't do that, you'll go to hell? If you don't do that, you'll go to hell," So he is always living in that atmosphere. The Muslim considers himself a slave to God. The Christian considers himself, because of his belief in Jesus Christ, the son or the daughter of God. The difference is great.
